Picked up the double CD ‘The Definitive Collection’ on eBay as bar hearing a the more well known songs like ‘Eye In The Sky’ on the radio, I don’t have any Alan Parsons Project (APP) music in my collection. Not sure why as Alan Parsons and Eric Wolfson (who died in 2009) produced some wonderfully melodic songs and instrutmentals, perfect for an AOR/melodic rock fan like me.
The vocalists on these songs are respected ones such as Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann’s Earth Band), John Miles, Colin Blunstone (The Zombies), Allan Clarke (The Hollies) and Eric Woolfson. 70’s pop rockers Pilot provided three members of the early APP line-up, namely David Paton, Iain Bairson and Stuart Tosh (Parsons produced Pilot’s hit single ‘Magic’).
Great value and you can pick up a copy of this compilation easily on eBay etc.
Alan Parsons has a new album ‘The Secret’ out next month on Frontiers Records, whilst many former APP band members (including Stuart Elliott, David Paton & Andrew Powell) are planning to tour playing songs from the band’s 70’s and 80’s albums.
