Amazing to think it was 25 years ago on April 20 1992 that the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert was held at Wembley Stadium. I was lucky enough to get tickets to the show and I can still remember what a great tribute it was. Since then of course we have sadly lost some of the musicians appearing that day including David Bowie, George Michael and Mick Ronson. The DVD of the event is well worth getting although not every artist is on there – Spinal Tap are a notable absentee.
For me Extreme and Def Leppard were the best bands on the day, with George Michael nailing the Queen classics with style. There were rumours he would front Queen although it was not to be and instead the band went out with firstly Paul Rodgers, and now enjoy a new lease of life with Adam Lambert fronting the band. As a lifelong Queen fan I would be interested to see if Brian May and Roger Taylor would look to record new Queen songs with Adam Lambert.

Lucky you, I’d have loved to watch that tribute concert in person! And I’d give anything to see Freddie Mercury live at Wembley back in ’86, though I wasn’t born then. Haha.
I did get to see Queen with Adam Lambert last year, and they were stunning. It’d be brilliant if they could record some new songs together. 🙂
