The Damned’s last studio album to date was released in 2008 – they launched a Pledge music campaign for a new studio album last summer and that is due out sometime this year. It is a real good mix of pop rockers with some having the band’s classic gothic air that gave them chart success in the 1980’s like ‘Dr. Woofenstein’. Songs like ‘Perfect Sunday’ and ‘Little Miss Disaster’ (the instrumental into alone is worth hearing) are perfectly formed pieces of pop rock genius.
Dave Vanian gets to go all music hall on ‘Nature’s Dark Passion’, whilst the fourteen minutes plus of ‘Dark Asteroid’ – the Damned go prog rock/space rock, no seriously! Their are extended SFX guitar solos all over this one.
I’d highly recommend you give this a listen, a real gem of an album.
