Since signing up with Bandcamp I have been discovering lots of new music, not all great it has to be said! However, Tom Mitchell is worthy of your ears and attention. He has a whole series of EP’s available and ‘Adventures’ is his latest one released in December last year. He has a very melodious vocal, easy on the ear and suited to the acoustic playing, and he is a deft guitar player (check out ‘Final Exit’ for proof). Highly recommended.

Burnt Out Wreck release their debut album ‘Swallow’ on Cherry Red Records on Feb 10. The band features former Heavy Pettin’ vocalist Gary Moat. It is very AC/DC in sound, both riff and vocal wise as Moat sounds like AC/DC’s Brian Johnson on this one. Not a bad song, decent enough to warrant giving the album a listen.

And for something completely different…we have an original member of both ELO and Wizzard, Bill Hunt releases a new double B-side under the handle of The Ancient Order of Froth Blowers! The release is sponsored by a brewing company, namely the Froth Blowers Brewing Co. Joining Bill Hunt are sax player Nick Penetlow (ex-Wizzard) and cellist Hugh McDowell (ex-ELO/Wizzard). Plus Miles Hunt of the Wonderstuff is also involved. ‘El Original Brew’ is the official follow-up to a Wizzard B-side penned by Bill Hunt, namely ‘The Carlsberg Special’. The other song on here is ‘The Kentish Town Song’ written by Bill’s son Will and it does borrow ELO’s riff on ‘10538 Overture’ (mind you Paul Weller did that on his ‘Changing Man’ song).
