Chart watch

I have always been interested in the music and book bestseller charts and have been lucky enough to work at the Bookseller magazine where I helped compile weekly & monthly bestseller charts. So with this in mind I am going to attempt a weekly look at the rock acts in the UK album charts and the book bestsellers.

ELO’s best of ‘All Over The World’ clocks up 122 weeks in the charts and is still in the top 10 – down to number six this week. New Model Army debut at no.25 with their new album ‘Winter’ – their highest chart debut since 1993. Delain’s ‘Moonbathers’ debuts at no.50.

Biffy Clyro top the rock & metal charts knocking Sabaton off last week’s top spot. Power metal band Twilight Force debut at no.20 after signing with Nuclear Blast for their major league debut.

In the book world the latest ‘Harry Potter’ stills tops the charts (although it is a play which surprised some Potter fans, err the clues in the book title!). It sold an amazing 680,000 copies in its first three days of publication. Stuart McBride is in the WHS top 10 and good to see the highly readable ‘Prisoners Of Geography’ by Tim Marshall gaining sales and exposure via bestseller slots in booksellers.
