Trans-Siberian Orchestra in the ‘New Statesman’

Interesting article on the TSO  in the summer issue of the ‘New Statesman’ magazine. Having seen the TSO when they played the Hammersmith Apollo a few years ago I would love for them to bring their US Christmas show over here. Highly unlikely I know due to cost and the fact I am not sure the UK audiences would take to this seasonal OTT show.

Strange how even the symphonic rock gigs with known classic rock vocalists do well in mainland Europe yet don’t make it over here. There is the odd symphonic tribute to a particular artist like Pink Floyd, but even these are festival support acts or play the smaller to medium sized theatres. The pop end of the market was well catered for with Louis Clark’s Hooked On Classics (who of course provided string arrangements for ELO in late 70’s) back in the 1980’s and the late James Last could easily fill the Royal Albert Hall. Time for an adventurous promoter to take the plunger perhaps? I won’t hold my breath though!
